Alex's Sunday BBQ

Alex's Bar

It’s that time of the year again: Start up those propane tanks, stock up on those bags of Kingsford Charcoal—it’s barbecue season. Okay, so throwing a barbecue kind of sucks. All that preparation, the clean-up process, the costs...renders it all, well, not really worth it. Long Beach’s Alex’s Bar has taken care of all that. Every Sunday, everyone’s favorite punk rock dive bar throws a free barbecue for all its friends—and that includes you. With DJs, food and cheapo drink specials aplenty, you’ll remember why you love Alex’s so much. Is it the retro vinyl seating? The black and white photo-booth? The gorgeous rockabilly gals you’re sure to see? The kitschy decor featuring everyone and everything from Jesus to Elvis? The fact that the bar sells PBR tall boys? (Question: when was the last time you weren’t drunk at Alex’s Bar?) And to you vegetarians, don’t worry: There will be plenty of veggie burgers on hand, too.
