A Family Divided

Seth MacFarlane

Family Guy is most definitely a “love it or hate it” kind of show. The devoted fans that bought DVDs in droves actually brought it back from cancellation, something that’s basically unheard of for network TV. But there are plenty of detractors—including he guys behind South Park , who dedicated a two-part episode to criticizing it—that say it’s offensive, poorly animated and that the jokes come way too easily, from random pop-culture references instead of being “earned” through character or plot development. Seth MacFarlane, the creator of Family Guy and the voice of Peter, Stewie, Brian, Quagmire and more, will be in Long Beach to talk about behind-the-scenes details of the show (how do they pick which ‘80s cartoon to reference?) and probably do some of those (mostly) beloved characters.
