StarDUST (Adventures in Conciousness)

By ERIN DEWITT

Published on February 12, 2009 at 2:43am

He’s done what most playwrights have only dreamed of—become a critic’s darling, a multi-award winner (including LA Weekly’s prize for Best Solo Performance) and he’s done it all on his own. Doug Motel’s previous one-man act, Shiva Arms, won him massive acclaim so there’s considerable excitement surrounding his latest work. An autobiography, StarDUST, (Adventures in Consciousness) is a collection of stories Motel spent most of his life trying to forget. Rife with humiliation and hilarity, this writer/actor brings his tales alive without the need for frilly props and lavish sets; just a man on a stage.
