White Trash Wednesdays

By ERIN DEWITT

Published on January 29, 2009 at 2:49am

Its common knowledge that during rough economic times, the vice-businesses flourish. Booze, cigarettes, gambling, strippers...it’s a pretty glorious time to go slumming. Liquor sales, especially, go through the roof as decent, hard working folks try to drink their troubles away. Johnny’s Saloon in Huntington Beach has always kept a special night for the downtrodden with White Trash Wednesdays, a weekly celebration of all things degenerate and wonderful. PBRs for 99 cents, 2 dollar Iggy Pops (we don’t know exactly what those are, but we bet they’ll get you twisted right quick), and one of the best juke boxes in the county playing punk rock, psychobilly, rockabilly, outlaw country and Southern rock. It’s dark, it’s loud and it’s just what we need in times like this.
