The Misfits

By ERIN SMITH

Published on November 20, 2008 at 2:49am

Horrorpunk originators and smooth chested crooners who ushered in the infamous devillock hairstyle (that flaccid black spike that shoots down the forehead), the Misfits are the band that keeps Hot Topic in business and New Jerseyites in eyeliner. We can thank the guitar driven surreptitious chugs of their 1982 album Walk Among Us for paving the leather cuffed way of bands like My Chemical Romance who’ve taken the pop part of Misfits punk to greater visibility. They may not have the infamous Glenn Danzig fronting them, but they can still warp your mind into some sort of frenetic aural submission.
