Mike Farrell has not been content to rest upon his laurels since his role as B.J. Hunnicutt on M*A*S*H ended along with the series in 1983. In addition to his acting (including a recurring role on Providence from 1999-2002), Farrell has dedicated himself to a life of activism, usually of the sort that would give Bill O’Reilly an embolism. Staunchly liberal, he works in support of human and animal rights, environmental protection and the movement to end the death penalty and unnecessary wars, among other worthy causes. While many have argued that celebrities have no business being involved in politics, Farrell has enough courage in his convictions to tell them to go to hell. Come to Irvine United Congregational Church’s Thanksgiving Service to hear the man speak about Just Call Me Mike, his new book about his lifetime of activism.
