Rockabilly Day at Disneyland

By ERIN DEWITT

Published on November 13, 2008 at 2:47am

There’s nothing like a subculture with seriously wicked style taking over the squeaky clean, kiddy-saturated Disneyland for a day. The goths have had Bat Day for years and now we’re happy to report that this Saturday will be the first annual (completely unofficial and non-Disney endorsed) Rockabilly Day at the mouse’s kingdom. Starting (of course) with a classic car caravan at 9 a.m., other festivities include a “Rock Around the Park” group photo in front of Sleeping Beauty’s castle, a performance by Billy Hill and the Hillbillies and swing dancing to the live music of Stompy Jones. Note to all the ‘50s pin-up girls: wearing those cute ankle-strap stilettos is probably not the best idea. You’ll be doing a lot of walking and standing in line.
