Christmas Tree Lighting

By Amanda Parsons

Published on November 14, 2008 at 2:47am

It’s November—time to go out and kill a stately evergreen that has been around since before any of us were born so we can decorate its carcass with glass balls and lights to show how excited we are that Christmas is approaching . . . in more than a month. And, oh, how we love the festivities! Be a part of them today, as Orange County’s would-be Rockefeller Center, South Coast Plaza, lights a tree of its own before a crowd of people just itching to throw their hard-earned money toward things nobody needs so they can wrap them up in pretty paper and hand them to relatives they only speak to this time of year out of guilt. Happy Holidays! Okay, maybe we’re coming off a bit cynical, but no matter what your take on the holiday is, we can all get behind the fact that students from Santa Ana’s Orange County High School of the Arts will be presenting an accompanying holiday show to warm even the crankiest of hearts. Maybe even ours.
