More About

On Tuesday, November 4th, Americans decided it was time for a change. The country had become so troubled that the majority of Americans decided it would be worth their while to have a say in their future and turned out in extraordinarily high numbers to vote. Today, a similarly high-stakes battle will take place in Long Beach as The Cellar hosts the regional battle to decide which Southern California blues band shall be sent to Memphis to represent our fair land in the 2009 International Blues Competition. Now, Southern California generally isn’t thought of as a bastion of blues authenticity, but whether or not So Cal takes home the grand trophy, it’s a sure bet that today’s regional competition will feature the best local blues bands we’ve got, playing over the course of nearly 11 hours for a completely recession friendly price. Come out and show your support for the underdogs. In a year that proved “Yes, we can,” isn’t just an empty motto, you never know what could happen.
