Valient Thorr, Black Tusk and Tweak Bird at Detroit Bar

Published on October 23, 2008 at 2:46am

Sometimes judging a band based on their looks can be a bit unfair when deciding whether or not to give their music a chance. However, in the case of Valient Thorr, dingy leather jackets, whiskey stained concert Ts, and Zeus-like beards only manage to work in their favor. How can any rock fan resist them? We certainly can't. And it doesn't hurt that their music grabs from the best that classic rock has to offer. This fierce five-piece revels in a twisted sonic circus of punk, metal, sci-fi and biker machismo. Their sound has placed them on tour with various icons like Motorhead, Fu Manchu and Joan Jett. On tour in the name of their latest album "Immortalizer", produced and recorded by Jack Endino (Nirvana, Super Suckers, Hot Hot Heat) the band prepares to descend on Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa. Opening acts include metal band Black Tusk and LA rock duo Tweak Bird.
