Charity Golf Tournament

Published on October 23, 2008 at 2:45am

Get your wallets out! The Costa Mesa Firefighters Association will be holding their 8th Annual Charity Golf Tournament today, and one look at our frequently smoke-filled horizon (no thanks to the Santa Anas and the occasional arsonist) should be an indication that they need funding now more than ever. In addition to the knowledge that they’re benefitting a worthy cause, golfers have a number of opportunities to win prizes and cash. Drop a ball out of a helicopter and land it in a hole? Win a million dollars. Make a hole-in-one? Get a car. Come in first in the putting contest, and you’ve got yourself a cool 25 grand. But even the most mediocre golfer gets to enjoy the continental breakfast, and a cocktail and dinner reception following the tournament. Proceeds go toward the Costa Mesa Firefighters Charity Fund, which supports athletic sponsorships, high school scholarships, food for the needy, the Boys and Girls Club, and the Orange County Burn Center.
