Santogold

By ERIN DEWITT

Once the front woman for Philadelphia-based punk band Stiffed, Santogold (born Santi White) traded in the scuff for gaudy sparkle and found success flaunting her exotic, flamboyant style as a solo artist. For her eponymous debut album, the musician worked with talents such as Spank Rock and Diplo, landed several commercial deals, got props from Rolling Stone , and proved to the world that her unique blend of pop, hip-hop and electronica makes her unlike any other recording artist on the scene—so stop comparing her to M.I.A. already.
