Cowboy Celtic

Silverado Country Fair

By Andrew Tonkovich

Published on October 02, 2008 at 2:46am

Don’t be taken in by the over-the-top Wild West theme and boomtown nostalgia. Sure, locals at this fall canyon fair dress up as floozies, gunslingers and mean hombres. But Silverado folk also sing Irish ballads and rebel songs and dance to jigs and reels. Proceeds from this variety of well-organized international rustic charm—with local crafts, homemade goodies and live music—support the area’s best daycare center and branch library. See locals in quaint costumes. Eat some pie. Listen to local rockers, blues players and OC’s favorite Celtic folk outfit, Sligo Rags. Silverado go country! Silverado go bragh!
