The Hives, Eagles of Death Metal and The Willowz at The Grove

By NATE JACKSON

Published on September 18, 2008 at 2:45am

In the world of straight-ahead rock bands, there are two things that will always keep the fans interested: Edgy guitar lines and a sweet mustache. Fortunately the two headliners at The Grove this Sunday have generous amounts of both. The Hives first landed on the American punk radar back in 2002 with their album "Veni Vidi Vicious". Since then, this five pack of sharp-dressed Swedes have proven that just because your band wears matching clothes doesn't mean you can't kick ass. Prepare to hear their new collection of jittery, garage- rock anthems like "Tick Tick Boom" off the "The Black and White Album". Eagles of Death Metal will also be hitting the stage with full force. Bushy-lipped front man Jesse "The Devil" Hughes and Josh "Baby Duck" Homme (Queens of the Stone-Age) make up the bulk of this big riff rock band. They of course will be hocking tunes from their upcoming October release "Heart On".
