Note to self: What the fuck happened to Norm Macdonald? The onetime Saturday Night Live “Weekend Update” anchor—known for his dry sense of humor, tape-recorded “notes to self,” and constant references to prison rape, crack whores and the German love of David Hasselhoff—seemed to have dropped off the radar following his firing from the show by the same NBC executive who thought David Letterman wasn’t funny. The release of his decidedly un-critically-acclaimed 1998 cult classic, Dirty Work, didn’t do much for his career, either. Or so the Germans would have you believe! In actuality, Macdonald has been perfecting his standup act in comedy clubs across the country, and anyone who missed his pitch-perfect satire of the concept of a “roast” at the recent Bob Saget tribute needs to look it up on YouTube and be schooled. This weekend, he’s making an appearance at the Irvine Improv to show you what you’ve been missing.
