Boost Mobile Pro

By ERIN DEWITT

Published on September 04, 2008 at 2:45am

Lower Trestles Beach, home to some of the best waves in California, will be hosting the Boost Mobile Pro surfing competition in a weeklong battle of the Greatest Surfers in the World. Three wild-card contestants—Rob Machado, Brett Simpson and Yadin Nicol—will go at it against the globe’s top 46 surfers (Kelly Slater, Joel Parkinson and Bede Durbidge, to name a few) in order to win the coveted Boost Mobile title. (Yes, the prize is named after the friggin’ phone company. Is nothing sacred anymore?) Part of the ASP World Championship Tour, this will be the only event held on the U.S. mainland.
