One or Two?

The Humpers

The Humpers brand of Dolls/Dead Boys punk-n-roll rocked from Long Beach to Yugoslavia (where they were huge) in the mid-to-late ‘90s. Theirs was also one of the most fun shows you could go to back then. Alex Hernandez, a promoter and bouncer at the time, remembers the band whose reunion shows his bar will host this weekend: “They were never mediocre. They were always really bad or really great, depending on how much they drank.” He recalls having to ration out drink tickets in order to ensure a performance that didn’t feature a blacked-out band. “I think they’ve outgrown that stage,” he says. He and everyone else who was there are greatly anticipating making some new memories with a show that feels like an old friend (with a kick-ass guitar sound) coming home.
