"Among all these very dubious witnesses, there are six to seven USA Today editors and reporters in a quarter-mile stretch of highway at the most crucial point to see the alleged impact, the most controversial event in history," Marquis says, stretched back in his chair, beer in hand. Ranke, eager to voice his own suspicions, nods his head vigorously in agreement while simultaneously scrolling through myriad aerial photographs of the Pentagon on his laptop.

"Imagine six of your co-workers all in the same place, and you're there to sell this event," Marquis continues. "What the fuck? All these people were allegedly in that area on the way to work. Trust me, when you take all their accounts and examine them individually as a researcher, you realize all these motherfuckers are lying."

"We can prove [Walter] is a liar," Ranke says.

"You want me to cut to the chase?" Marquis interrupts. "He's an operative. One hundred percent, without a doubt. A deep-cover operative or asset."

"The point is, it's not obvious until you dig," Ranke says.

"They are deep cover," Marquis says, shaking his head in resignation. "They have to be. It's obvious."

"Maybe not all of them, but some of them for sure," Ranke offers.

"And if not, they're assets," Marquis adds thoughtfully. "I hate to even speculate."

A friend of mine told me he thought 9/11 was an "inside job" two years ago and I almost kicked him out of my car. But once you look into it in any sort of depth, your attitude changes. You don't even have to look that far for Pete's sake. Consider the most obvious questions first: Why won't they just show us what hit the Pentagon? Why did WTC7 collapse? Why are there bright "flashes" before both planes hit the twin towers? Why do multiple witnesses describe the planes that hit the twin towers say they were "military planes" or "big gray plane(s)" or "not an American airline"? In fact, when you look at the four or five different images of Flight 175 approaching the second tower, why does it not appear to have a navy blue underbelly or blue tail like a United 767 is supposed to have? Why, why, why? I'll tell you why: The "Project for a New American Century" of which Cheney, Wolfowitz and Rumsfeld were a part, wrote longingly of the need for a "New Pearl Harbor" to assert American primacy before they took power, and then they gave us one.

These two guys, Ranke and Marquis, have brass balls to go to D.C. and canvass neighborhoods interviewing witnesses. They've made an important contribution. For you to insist that they not only prove gross inconsistencies in the official narrative but that they also tell you exactly how and whodunnit (without subpoena power) is condescending and snarky, even for a leftist weekly. Whose side are you on? If anybody should be doing it, the leftist weeklies should be canvassing those neighborhoods. I am a Registered Independent who tended to vote Republican in national elections until 2004 when I left the Presidential part of the ballot blank. I believed in "strong defense," "low taxes," and "limited government." Ha! What a laugh. The military industrial complex has run amok just like Eisenhower said it would, and things are perhaps much worse than that. The events of the last decade are appalling and give every indication of a series of genuine -- and NOT merely theoretical -- "conspiracies" to manipulate our markets, our housing, our food, our information, our foreign policy and to subvert all that was ever good or decent about this country. A revolutionary spirit is absolutely what is needed. The "at work forces" love partisan bickering between know-nothings. So keep snarking and let people like Renke and Marquis (and the rest of us) do the real work while O.C. Weekly kicks out "infotainment" for fun and profit. Seriously, you do some good work but the tone of this article really burns me considering what's at stake.

The Pentagon was built on top of a former Arlington, Virginia garbage dump. Perhaps the explosion and fire were caused by gases generated in the landfill beneath and surrounding the Pentagon.

What a pair of idiots...... They cherry pick *parts* of statements by less than 2% of witnesses to the Pentagon attack to suit their silly theory and then get upset when people don't accept this.... Even their own picked witnesses say the plane hit the Pentagon. And what's with the whole "CIT" bit? There's only the two of them.

The apparent repetitive use of the label: "conspiracy theorist" for researchers that have the tenacity, the wit and the guts you yourself will never have, reveals you for what you truly are: a biased and lazy excuse for a journalist with more interest for juicy gossip than fact finding coupled with an honest and balanced interpretation of information. Good luck with career, it means nothing.

I personally don't believe in conspiracy theories, but obviously these guys went out to DC and collected taped interviews about what people saw that day. If the official flight path goes against what these eyewitnesses are saying, shouldn't we be questioning the official story rather than disparaging these two ordinary people? I don't care if they graduated from college or if their apartment is bare, if the evidence they show contradict the government's story, that's what we should be focusing on ALL PERSONAL BELIEFS ASIDE

This is shoddy "journalism" at it's worst. This agenda-laden hit piece is so very full of lies and misrepresentations. I'd hoped to read a piece that helped expose this rich new avenue of evidence, but no, I'm treated to propagandist crap that bears little relationship to the site it's 'reporting' on. Reporter?
