Pointe It Out

American Ballet Theater

By CHESNEY HIGGINS

Published on July 31, 2008 at 2:40am

The American Ballet Theater, based in New York city, is by and large one of the most reputable, daring, and classically trained ballet companies in the world. Traditionally, in the summertime, the company takes it to the road for limited engagements in fortunate cities to share their awesomeness. Orange County will be the hosts for the West Coast Premiere of Rabbit and Rogue. This piece boasts choreography by the inimitable and unstoppable Twyla Tharp, with music by Danny Elfman (holy wow!), and costumes by Norma Kamali. Prior to Tharp's offering, Danish choreographer Harald Landers presents Etudes, which the website says "builds from an evocative opening scene of four young ballerinas to its dazzling finale with the full company."
