It's Pat

Pat Benatar

By ERIN SMITH

Published on July 31, 2008 at 2:41am

Pat Benatar has always been a more commercial Joan Jett, an angrier Chrissie Hynde, the frenzied yet focused long lost pop sister to Nina Hagen. She is every solo singing woman who stomped her black leather stiletto boot on apolitical laziness or blasé indecision in the face of love. "Before I put another notch in my lipstick case/You better make sure you put me in my place." She was hair and guitar and big money-worth-it shows back when that was exactly what people needed. The Benatar herself (who is looking very chic these days!) and long-time collaborator/husband Neil Giraldo bring back the big noise for one summer night.
