By VICKIE CHANG

Published on July 10, 2008 at 2:40am

Remember when adults-parents, teachers, anyone willing to read If You Give a Mouse a Cookie aloud for the 58th time-read to you as a child? Do you remember how comforting it was? How engaging? How exciting? And we're sure you remember how those types of events hooked you on books and reading for the rest of your life. The Long Beach Shakespeare Co. is offering dramatic readings of Lewis Carroll's classic Alice in Wonderland for four weeks this summer. Complete with lights and sound, it will be easy to see how the nonsensical prose of Carroll still appeals to people of all ages-now, what was it that the Caterpillar was smoking in that hookah?
Fridays, 8 p.m.; Saturdays, Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: July 11. Continues through Aug. 2, 2008
