Backyard

We get it: You're the kind of person who really takes the concept of saving the best for last to heart. That's why you've waited until the last night of the Cypress College New Play Festival to witness the marriage of two divine elements: stage acting and suplexes. Award-winning playwright Mickey Birnabaum will be wrapping up this summer festival with his bone-crushing new play, Backyard. It follows the twisted tale of a suburban teen named Chuck who is determined to make it big in the world of backyard wrestling. Apparently, doing battle in a chaotic ring of death is the only thing in which he thinks he has a future. Can you relate?
Thursdays, 8 p.m. Starts: June 12. Continues through July 17, 2008
