Dragging On

Oscar De La Hoya Signing

By DAFFODIL J. ALTAN

Published on June 12, 2008 at 2:40am

If you've ever wondered how Mexican-American boxing darling Oscar De La Hoya wriggled into that fishnet bodysuit or what size stiletto heels he was wearing when those oh-so-naughty pictures of him in drag made more news than his latest prize belt, now you can ask him in person! The good ol' boxing champ will be signing copies of his new book, American Son , at Barnes & Noble inside Huntington Beach's Bella Terra shopping center. Okay, so the book isn't exactly about his foray into the lingerie-drag world (he and his lawyers still maintain the pics were fakes), but it may still be a good read. A son of immigrants, the boy busted his butt as a kid to make it to the top; won an Olympic gold medal for his mom who had died of cancer; and now has a promotion company and a real-estate development company and funds one of the most innovative charter schools in LA.
