Odd Mann Out

Aimee Mann

Counterculture favorite Aimee Mann has long since shed her 'Til Tuesday '80s roots—and since that glammy time, she has embarked on a personal and somewhat rocky journey to define music in her own subtle and often dark terms. Momentarily peeking her head out from under the singer/songwriter rock of refusing to go mainstream, Mann wowed audiences, critics and the Academy with her soundtrack of songs for P.T. Anderson's tapestry, Magnolia, back in 1999. Since then, Mann's been recording on her own label, churning out breathy, moving and stylistically superior records that remind you that the world does not have to be run by American Idol-esque crap and media conglomerates. Come show her your undying indie support and revel in tunes from her new release, @#%&*! Smilers.
