Once, Twice

Thrice

Local boys made good, Thrice hail from the completely un-mean streets of Irvine, though listening to their early output, one could be forgiven for thinking they may have grown up in a slightly rougher town. Moving forward from their hardcore roots, Thrice's recent albums have shown them flirting with melodic structures that nearly approach prog (in fact, "The Whaler" from 2007's The Alchemy Index, Vol. 1 & 2 sounds like it could be a lost Aloha B-side). It's a testament to the band's artistic ambition that they have been able to pull off the transition successfully. Welcome them home at the House of Blues, but leave the black clothes behind this time.
