Garden Grove may not be known for much-other than that Sublime song-but its annual Strawberry Festival gives you a reason to exit the 22. The city's hosting its 50th festival this year honoring that delicious California strawberry. The festival has all the attractions you'd expect at a fruit celebration-a giant strawberry shortcake, a spirited parade, food booths, live music, carnival rides-as well as some you might not, such as appearances by Martin Landau. And Dick Van Patten (Robin Hood: Men in Tights ). And Alison Arngrim ( Little House on the Prairie ). And Miss Garden Grove herself. So, yeah, go for the food. Stuff your face. But do check out the giant strawberry shortcake. Whoever eats the whole thing gets a free EKG.
