Out of Shadows

Rogue Wave

At the beginning of this year, the Orange County Performing Arts Center kicked off its Off Center series. After making a name for itself by hosting prestigious rosters of ballet, classical, opera and musical-theater acts, OCPAC broadened its spectrum to include a whole new crowd. And that includes having various pop and rock acts to play its brand-new and completely gorgeous Samueli Theater. This week's guest is Rogue Wave, whose dreamy, layered sound recently left behind their big-name label in exchange for Jack Johnson's Brushfire Records-which doesn't sound as bad as you think, hipster. On Brushfire, they'll at least manage to not get lost in all the hype of the other bands on Sub Par-er, Pop. The Indie Band Series has been extended now through the summer, with appearances by Pinback, Yacht, Nada Surf and more.
