Moat Float

Castledoor

Detroit Bar's got a good thing going on Monday nights. The Costa Mesa venue lightens the worst of the weekdays with a fresh band taking up a month-long residency. May accommodates Silver Lake lovechild Castledoor: a dreamy sextet glistening in the eyes of LA's folk-art-and-music-loving hipster crowd. Now almost 4 years old, the band thrive on delicately layering twinkling crystal-pop over elegant vocal harmonies. Songs such as "Magnetic Forces" and "The Birds and the Fleas" exude the buoyancy of youthful merriness, while "Remember When" centers on a more homespun aesthetic. Bonus: the recession-friendly cover charge-it's free!
Mondays, 9 p.m. Starts: May 5. Continues through May 30, 2008
