Casxio

By DAVE SEGAL

Published on May 07, 2008 at 2:41am

LA quartet Casxio are rising through SoCal's rave nu world, and it's easy to hear why: Their neon-lit, lamé-clad electro pop meshes well with the popular styles spun by Steve Aoki's legions of DJ disciples. "Seventeen" will turn your eyes into glittery disco orbs while inspiring sincerely ironic Saturday Night Fever moves. "Counting Squares" recalls Electric Six's over-the-top glam slam while alluding to Bell Biv DeVoe's "Poison." "My Book" bites the choppy guitar figure from the Police's "Roxanne." "Boiling Point" is laid-back, Princely falsettoed R&B tooled for sowin' wild oat(e)s, while the orchestral, camp funk of "Dance" would segue smoothly into Chromeo's "Bonafide Lovin'." Darn tootin'. . .
