Don’t Blame Canada

Rush

It's interesting when bands such as Coheed and Cambria claim they never listened to Rush. Maybe they should start. And then maybe, just maybe, in 30 years, their version of fantasy/prog/metal could sell out amphitheaters. Rush will land in Irvine this week to remind us Americans that three Canadians have been doing prog rock better for more than 30 years-oh, and having 14 records go platinum is pretty neat, too. Believe it or not, music elitists, it's okay to like Rush. No matter how many times your name's mentioned on Stereogum, or how much tighter your pants are than your drummer's, this week's trendy band will never possess this much talent. Ever. The Cobrasnake might not be there to document your presence, but there'll be plenty of booze-and maybe a lack of the ladies. Who's ever seen a gal at a Rush concert anyway?
