Snow White
and the Seven Dwarfs

By VICKIE CHANG

Published on May 01, 2008 at 2:40am

Nothing like using creepy puppets to tell the creepy tale of seven creepy dwarfs living in the forest with a perfectly creepy gal named Snow White. Throw in an evil queen and a hunter, and you've got a celebrated children's tale that's stood the test of time? We joke, but famed German puppeteer Matthias Kuchta's interpretation of the ages-old Brothers Grimm story is a unique departure from the cheerful whistling and chirping Snow White of a certain animated film. His near-life-sized puppets of textile and realism have toured the world-always to much acclaim, and it's never what you expect. Here's a hint, though: Leave the Dopey shirt at home.
