6.0 Lowers Pro

By TOM CHILD

Published on April 25, 2008 at 2:40am

Surfers have historically been a fairly laid-back bunch. People who choose to spend their leisure time pretty much begging Mother Nature to slap them in the face need to adopt a certain casual philosophy toward the rest of their life. But even the most mellowed-out soul surfers would have a hard time turning up their nose at $80,000. That's the grand prize at this year's 6.0 Lowers Pro, and you can bet that should more than cover a lifetime supply of wax and novelty ukuleles. Come down to Trestles and watch some of the bravest young surfers and their carving machines.
