Listening to Katie the Pest brings to mind a plethora of amazing musicians. Lead singer Talia Rose's voice recalls Pacific Northwest superstar Mirah with a bit of Exile in Guyville -era Liz Phair. Musically, the band recalls groups like the Aislers Set, a slightly more sonically compressed Jesus and Mary Chain, and the eerie vocal work of Quixotic and Elecralane. But all the name-dropping in the world can't do justice to the brilliance of the group's melodic, lo-fi, multi-layered pop. Catch them at the Prospector and be enthralled.
