Day Trip to the Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens

By TOM CHILD

Published on April 17, 2008 at 2:40am

Sure, it can be a little scary leaving the borders of Orange County and setting off to investigate our neighbors to the north. From their bizarre and exotic freeways (the mythic 605!) to their strange customs (cat herding), the denizens of LA County can at times seem unwelcoming. Odd as it may be, the county does contain many wonderful resources that it is willing to share with those who take the risk. The Laguna Art Museum is letting you have it both ways with this guided tour to the Huntington Library's new Chinese Gardens. Rest assured, you will be kept safe by your trained guides as you wander the gorgeous replica of China's Suzhou-style scholar gardens. Just be sure to keep your arms and legs inside the bus when you cross county lines.
