Rocking the Boat

Bet you didn't know Irvine has a Fine Arts Center. That's right: Amid all those beige- and peach-colored stucco enclaves, there's a community center with studios and exhibition halls dedicated solely to the visual arts. And right now, local artist Jeffrey Frisch is showcasing his installation of "dreamVessels"-fantasy sailing vessels assembled from found objects. And by "found," we mean, in one instance at least, "took out of his own (presumably clean) laundry basket": The fabric making up the ships' sails comes from shirts Frisch has worn. The end result is a delicate, detailed and fun experience for the viewer. Hurry, because the exhibition ends soon. Help support the arts-in Irvine!
