Frisbee Golf

Tired of sucking miserably at golf every time you decide to sport your sandals? Here’s a hint, keep the sandals—lose the clubs. And play disc golf. The Huntington Beach Disc Golf Course (think “Frisbee”) offers a chance to experience this free flinging pastime enjoyed by hippies and outdoorsy types in college towns across the country. It’s basically like golf minus the heavy club lugging and checkered pants. Players start from a tee and try to land their disc in an elevated metal basket known as the “Pole Hole” using consecutive throws. Only a few miles from the beach in Huntington Central Park, this official course is one of the first of its kind in the United States. Disc throwing enthusiasts can enjoy an 18-hole 5,400 ft. course for a casual fling and play all day for a few bucks. For the more die hard discoholoics there are open division tournaments on the first saturday of every month when the course can extend to 6,100 ft. All divisions are welcome. Just make sure to bring your “A” game and your long toss.
Mondays-Fridays, 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m.; Saturdays, Sundays, 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m., 2008
