Burning Up

You're Getting Warmer

By TOM CHILD

Published on January 10, 2008

Kids are resilient little buggers, able to bounce back from quite a lot, but a scrape on the knee is one thing-catastrophic global climate change is quite another. While many adults seem pretty set in their fossil-fuel-burning ways, there's a chance the youngsters among us who haven't yet experienced the joy of hauling ass down the freeway in a classic American muscle car might be a little more receptive. South Coast Repertory is hosting a free presentation of You're Getting Warmer , a musical for children that aims to teach them a little something about such grown-up subjects as global cataclysmic disaster and energy conservation. But it's got songs and a polar bear, so the medicine should go down pretty easy.
