East Village Art Walk

Every second Saturday of the month, Long Beach's East Village Arts District throws an art walk. Linden Avenue, between Broadway and First Street, is blocked off to allow galleries to host openings, vendors to sell everything from art to homemade knickknacks, and street musicians to perform. The problem is it usually . . . isn't very good. But this month's walk promises to be different. Rachel Wright, owner of Siren on Fourth Street's Retro Row, organized a vintage-inspired night featuring Eddie Nichols from Royal Crown Revue performing in a doo-wop group, six classic cars on display, burlesque dancers Miss Foxie Moxie and Diesel, vintage two-wheelers from the Cyclone Coasters Bike Club, a fashion show featuring Tarantula Clothing, and a vintage hat collection. Good or bad, at least there's a theme this month, which might not be a bad idea for future art-walk planners.
