Those eight days of Hanukkah begin on Tuesday. And what better way to celebrate such a historical, traditional and religious event than with a night full of jokes? After all, denying the rich history and depth of Jewish jokes would be like denying the sky is blue or the grass is green. So, forget the menorahs and the candles for just a little bit and enjoy Ha Ha Hanukkah, brought to you by the national touring comedy group Hebrew School Dropouts. The troupe features comedians from Comedy Central, the WB, XM Radio and more. Don't be a schmuck. Just go.

Ha Ha Hanukkah at the Brea Improv, 120 S. Brea Blvd., Brea, (714) 482-0700; www.symfonee.com/Improv/brea. Wed., 8:30 p.m. $20.

Penny for Your Thoughts
Chapman University's 30th Anniversary Economic Forecast

It takes a special kind of Pollyanna to proclaim the American economy is doing fab in the face of reality, yet that's what always happens when Chapman University President Jim Doti and economics professor Esmael Adibi hold their annual Chapman Economic Forecast Conference. This year should be particularly entertaining: How will Doti spin slumping house sales, rising oil costs and the ever-present Iraq War into a happy-smiley fun year for Orange County's captains of industry—who shelled out $150 apiece to attend? How will Doti manage to keep his Cheshire-cat grin from fading? And the key question, of course: Is it worth $150 of your own money to watch them all squirm? (Are you kidding? In this economy?)

Chapman University's 30th Anniversary Economic Forecast at the Hyatt Regency Irvine, 17900 Jamboree Rd., Irvine, (714) 744-7958. Wed., 2 p.m. $75-$150.
