Helmet

ANGIE MATHEWS

Published on August 16, 2007

Helmet—well, Page Hamilton and three new guys: guitarist Jimmy Thompson, drummer Kyle Stevenson and bassist Jon Fuller—are out pounding the tour and promo-circuit. The clean-cut rockers are the guys behind "Revenge Destroys Everything," the hardcore title track of Tatua—the latest in graphic-novel-inspired films, coming soon to a theater near you.

On their return trip from playing a couple of shows in Mexico City—and promoting and performing at the San Diego Comic-Con, where Hamilton sat on a panel with creators Paul Jenkins and Rob Prior to discuss the film and give away an original, signed, airbrushed guitar—the post-hardcore heavy boys are making a pit stop in Orange County.

Hamilton and crew are hitting Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa for a "special warm-up appearance." Looking to either work out the kinks or catch some California sun before heading off on the next leg of their tour in Minnesota and Ohio, Helmet isn't calling the show official. But for just 15 buckaroos, you can rock out to singer/guitarist/band creator/only original member Hamilton's crooning and chugga-chugga, drop-C riffs and maybe even get some dope promotional Tatua swag. If not, no worries: They are giving away another airbrushed, original Page Hamilton-signed guitar. All you have to do is have the most amazing tattoo, take a picture of it and enter the "Revenge Destroys Everything" giveaway. Now, what P.R. person thought that one up?
