Hey, You!

Happy Anniversary!

We were the small yet hardy band of weekly anti-war protesters who gathered three years ago, across from Marina High School in Huntington Beach. You were the raucous gang of counterprotesters on the other corner who grew in vitriol and violence each week until we finally had to give up our corner. Your signs ran the gamut from "Nuke Iraq!" and "Fuck Iraq!" (that's a little off-message from your Dear Leader's "liberation" bullshit, no?) to the pithy "Kick ass for cheap gas!" (And how is that working out for you, sir?) One atypically civil lady from your side of the street helpfully explained to us that she supported the unprovoked invasion of secular Iraq because she didn't want to "end up having to wear a veil." So how do you guys like your little war now, three years in? Numbers at our rallies have been growing exponentially, and the only disagreement I ever hear is a very rare curse from a safely speeding car. I hope you're feeling stupid and wrong, and have begun to take some time to read, and think. But you're probably just busy being stupid and wrong about something else.
