This Week in the Last Thing You Need

The last thing you need is another faceless writer telling you to stop listening to the latest hot rap single on the radio and support "real rap" artists -- ones with highly politicized and opinionated music, of course. But though Sage Francis does indeed fall under the above characteristics -- even embarking on a Fuck Clear Channel Tour in 2004 -- he manages to stand out with his trademark juxtaposition of highly confrontational lyrics alongside songs exposing his own personal insecurities.

While many enterprising underground acts such as Atmosphere and KRS-One are beginning to receive their well-deserved heyday, genre veteran Sage Francis has yet to be given the attention his talent calls for. So go see Sage at the Glass House. Oday. Or you can sit and watch What's-Her-Name singing about her humps, her humps, her humps (her lovely lady lumps) on MTV.
