The Blade and the Damage Done

The following is excerpted from an editorial in the April 2002 issue of the Orange County and Long Beach Blade:

Congratulations! You did it! You created a monthly miracle. Yeah, you, you the readers, who have supported enough of our advertisers to keep us going; you the subscribers who care and trust us enough to support us year after year; you our advertisers who see our uniqueness and the importance of our communities for this vital resource. . . . We have struggled at times over what to share with you as a community. We abhor rumor and innuendo. . . . My promise was and will always remain to build our organizations, not throw pot shots for the sake of petty gossip. Another part of our mission has been to bust stereotypes about who and what we are. . . . I look forward to the next 10 years as I commit myself to do all that I can to continue to have your trust and support.
