STAFF PICK: Devilinside, VolumeOne(Abacus). "I saw these guys live at the Galaxy Theatre and was completely blown away. Their CD not only captured everything about their live show that caught my ear, but pushed it even further. While other bands are milling over the same riffs Slayer played 20 years ago, these guys are reinventing heavy chaotic metalcore the way bands like Converge, Disembodied and Deadguy did in the '90s. Throw in a few Sabbath-influenced groove parts, some heavier Pantera-esque breakdowns and some Vision of Disorder vocal stylings, and you can only begin to get the idea. I listened to this CD seven times in a row on the way down to TJ, and it's so good I nearly glued it to the inside of my CD player." (ErikEngard)
