Burning Bush

The presidents conservative critics

Illsutration by Bob AulActor, director and producer Mel Gibson is not a man given to doubts. In fact, he shows a remarkable capacity for believing in things no matter how unlikely or objectionable they are, as long as they fit into his very conservative worldview. That's what makes what he had to say about President Bush and the war in Iraq during a March 16 radio interview all the more remarkable. Prefacing his remarks by saying, "I think a lot of what he [Bush] does is good," Mel went on to confess his wavering faith to Fox News' Sean Hannity, during a segment of Hannity's syndicated radio show: "I've been having my doubts as of late. And it's all to do with these weapons that we can't seem to find and, like, why did we go over there?"
