Honey

Illustration by Bob AulWhen you close your eyes at night, I want the last things you remember to be the feeling of your car hitting my dog and then of you just driving away. I hope your dreams will be about the void left in my life and the void that's obviously in yours. Sure, there's probably nothing you could have done: make a cell-phone call for us, show some compassion maybe. But I guess, in the end, it's easier just rushing to wherever you're going with no regard for anyone or anything except yourself. So have a nice life.

Oh: when and if you have kids, and they get a puppy one Christmas, name it Honey. It was a good name for a great dog.
