Ah yes, the "original" riot grrrls. Remember the episode in which Josie chain sawed a dildo while Mel and Val scrawled SLUT and INCEST SURVIVOR on each others' midriffs to make a point about the way women are treated? Me neither. (Chris Ziegler)

From a Maverick Records promotional kit trumpeting 17-year-old singer/songwriter Michelle Branch: "With all the prepackaged musical fiction going on these days, it's a blessing to hear a young artist who was born to share her old soul. Citing her influences in the Beatels [sic] and Led Zeppelin, she wasted no time going after her dreams." A true blessing, however, would be for record-label publicity departments to hire proofreaders who know how to spell the names of historically important rock bands. (Rich Kane)
